WPSD – Authorities call proposed crime lab closure a public safety threat

UNION COUNTY, Ill. — Law enforcement agencies in southern Illinois said Governor Pat Quinn’s plan to close the Carbondale Crime Lab is flawed.

Officials in Johnson, Pulaski, and Union Counties voiced their opposition Thursday afternoon.

The governor’s plan calls for moving the Carbondale lab into a facility in Belleville, Illinois, which is more than 80 miles away.
