Two Missouri Residents Charged with Methamphetamine Offenses

 

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Brian A. Taylor (DOB 07-25-1974) of RR5, Lot D, Marble Hill, Missouri and Dustin J.D. Overbey (DOB 09-11-1992) of 919 North Westend Boulevard in Cape Girardeau, Missouri have been charged with various methamphetamine offenses.  Taylor is charged with one (1) count of Methamphetamine Conspiracy, a Class 1 Felony, two (2) counts of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors, both Class 2 Felonies, one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Materials, a Class 2 Felony, one (1) count of Solicitation of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors, a Class 3 Felony, and one (1) count of Retail Theft, a Class A Misdemeanor.  Overbey is charged with one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors, a Class 2 Felony, one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Materials, a Class 2 Felony, and one (1) count of Retail Theft, a Class A Misdemeanor.

 

Taylor is alleged to have obtained pseudoephedrine pills from Anna retailers on both May 13th and May 22nd for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine.   Overbey is alleged to have acted with Taylor on May 22nd.

 

Both are being held at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro – Taylor on $75,000 bond and Overbey on $30,000 bond.  The arrests follow an investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

 

The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt.  A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
