Thumbs up … Kudos to the two Union County officials working to make county business more transparent and easily accessible to the public online. State’s Attorney Tyler Edmonds and Treasurer Darren Bailey represent two of the youngest officers in the county, and in this era of government distrust and mismanagement, it is reassuring to see up-and-coming leaders make a commitment of openness to the public they are obligated to serve. Union County’s 2011 audit has already been posted online, and the two are working to get other documents and transactions available and posted as soon as possible. It’s a marked change for a county that roughly 10 years ago was several years behind on even completing audits, let alone showing them to the citizens of the county.
