Three Individuals Charged with Methamphetamine Offenses

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that the following have been charged with methamphetamine offenses:

Melissa M. Zamora (DOB 11/14/1980) of Murphysboro, Illinois, and James A. Schott (DOB 04/07/1967) of Murphysboro, Illinois, have each been charged with one (1) count of Unlawful Participation in Methamphetamine Production, a Class 1 Felony and one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony.  The two are alleged to have engaged in the manufacture of less than 15 grams of methamphetamine near Wolf Lake, Illinois.  They are both also alleged to have been in possession of methamphetamine.  Both were arrested on July 15, 2013 in the Shawnee National Forest Pine Hills area by Forest Service Officers and Union County Sheriff Deputies.  Both are being held at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro, Illinois on $100,000.00 bond.

Larry L. Turner, Jr. (DOB 03/05/1987) of Anna, Illinois has been charged with one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors, a Class 2 Felony and one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony.  Turner is alleged to have been in possession of methamphetamine and methamphetamine precursors.  Turner, Jr. was arrested on July 18, 2013 by Anna Police Officers following a traffic stop at Davie Street and Lafayette Street in Anna, Illinois.  Turner, Jr. is being held at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro, Illinois on $10,000.00 bond.

The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt.  A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
