Anna Woman Sentenced to 10 years for Armed Robbery and Kidnapping

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Karen S. Nichols a/k/a Karen S. Casper (DOB 06/09/1969) of 150 Hughey Lane in rural Anna has been sentenced to a term of ten (10) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the June 2013 robbery of a Johnston City woman and the kidnapping of the woman’s newborn child.  Nichols was sentenced to a term of ten (10) years on a charge of Armed Robbery, a Class X Felony, and a concurrent term of seven (7) years on a charge of Kidnapping, a Class 1 Felony.  Nichols was arrested at her residence by Union County Sheriff’s Deputies shortly after the Johnston City woman reported the kidnapping of her newborn child from a location in rural Union County during the evening hours of June 28, 2013.
