Jury Convicts Anna Man of Aggravated Stalking

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Chance S. Cottone (DOB 05/13/1969) of Anna, Illinois was found guilty by a Union County Jury on two (2) counts of Aggravated Stalking, both Class 3 Felonies, following a three day jury trial.  Cottone engaged in numerous acts of harassment in April 2015 directed at his ex-girlfriend including repeatedly driving by her place of employment and her residence and contacting her through Facebook, all in violation of an active order of protection.  Cottone was arrested in May 2015 as part of an investigation by the Anna Police Department.

Cottone remains in custody at the Jackson County Jail.  A sentencing hearing has been set for November 10, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Charles Cavaness at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.  Cottone faces up to ten (10) years in prison and a four (4) year period of Mandatory Supervised Release (formerly known as Parole).  The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Heather Heaslett.
