Anna Man Sentenced to Five Years for Aggravated Stalking

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Chance S. Cottone (DOB 05/13/1969) of Anna, Illinois has been sentenced to five (5) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on Aggravated Stalking, a Class 3 Felony.  Cottone will also serve a four (4) year period of Mandatory Supervised Release (formerly known as Parole).

Cottone was found guilty in September 2015 by a Union County jury following a three day trial.  Cottone engaged in numerous acts of harassment in April 2015 directed at his ex-girlfriend including repeatedly driving by her place of employment and her residence and contacting her through Facebook, all in violation of an active order of protection.  Cottone was arrested in May 2015 as part of an investigation by the Anna Police Department.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Heather Heaslett.
