Jonesboro Woman Sentenced to Prison

for Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence

 

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Judy Ann McCann-Stearns (DOB 9/28/1965) of Jonesboro, Illinois has been sentenced to three (3) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one (1) count of Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence, a Class 2 Felony.  McCann-Stearns will serve a two (2) year period of Mandatory Supervised Release.  McCann-Stearns was arrested in November 2018 following a traffic crash investigation conducted by Union County Sheriff’s Deputies. McCann-Stearns, while intoxicated, drove a vehicle at a high rate of speed on State Route 127 North with a passenger and crashed into a ditch.  The charge was elevated to a Class 2 Felony because this is McCann-Stearns’ fourth (4th) conviction for Driving Under the Influence.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney, Lisa C. Casper.
