Jury Finds Cairo Man Guilty of Armed Violence and Armed Habitual Criminal

 

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Ronald Andrew Hill (DOB 07/24/1980) of Cairo, Illinois was found guilty today after a two day jury trial on two (2) counts of Armed Violence and one (1) count of Armed Habitual Criminal, all Class X Felonies.  Hill was arrested in August 2018 by Anna Police following a traffic stop in which he was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun, cannabis and a controlled substance.  A sentencing hearing has been set for May 31, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.  Hill faces between 15 and 30 years in prison.

 

The case was investigated by the Anna Police Department with assistance from the Jonesboro Police Department and Illinois State Police Forensic Sciences Command.
